Important details:

Bring clothes for a mix of temperatures, from cold mornings to warm afternoons. Bring shoes that you

are comfortable walking in over rough terrain.


Food, lodging and transportation are NOT included. We will eat meals together, but it is not required.

In Death Valley, you can find colorful land forms, snow-covered peaks, beautiful sand dunes, amazing canyons, and some of the best photo opportunities in the world.

Join us for our annual photography workshop to Death Valley. Your instructor, Keith Skelton, has over 25 years of experience as a educator and as a professional photographer. Keith is a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography.  SEE BIO HERE

This workshop will take you to one of the world’s most photogenic locations: the landscape of Death Valley National Park. We will photograph places such as Ubehebe Crater, Badwater, Artist Point, Dante's View, the Race Track, and Rhyolite known as The Queen City of Death Valley. This workshop is open to of all levels of photography, using 35 mm to large format, film and/or digital. 

March is one of the best times of the year in the Park before the summer heat arrives.


WORKSHOP GOALS

We will strive to help you improve your technique and your photographic vision by studying color, composition, and light. We will also discuss Black & White digital techniques and panoramas. We will also photograph the stars. Our workshop will be organized for all to leave Death Valley with great pictures and with a new found knowledge. It will be a memorable and fun experience for all.

Thursday  December 2, 2010

We will meet you in Death Valley National Park at 3 p.m. at Furnace Creek Ranch. On this first day we will start with a park orientation and introduce each other. We will focus on composition and nuances of color while photographing the sunset.

Friday

This will be a full day in Death Valley. We will begin by rising before dawn to photograph the sunrise at Dante's View and Zabriskie Point. Later, we will spend some time going over the important digital techniques. "Shooting for Raw", digital work flow, converting to Black&White, and processing digital pictures. After breakfast we will begin to explore different areas in the southern end of the valley including Badwater, Artist Point, and more. We will end our day at a specific location where we will shoot the sunset.

Saturday

Once again, we will begin early in the morning. We will head north to shoot Rhyolite ghost town, Ubehebe Crater (pronounced you-be-he-be), and the “moving stones” at the Race Track Playa.

Sunday

This last day we will rise to photograph the Dunes at Stove Pipe Wells. This is a favorite place for many photographers. By about 10 am the workshops will conclude. You may wish to leave directly from the dunes to head home.
